A little bit of this and that

Pandas and Polaroids

22 June 2014
So this week, the UK got what can only be described as our 'one week of summer' - famously known as the week where the sun shines and temperatures push 20 degrees, swiftly followed by a week of continuous rain - classic. It would be a waste not to make the most of the weather, so this week I headed on out on with my trusty factor 50 by my side (my transparent complexion is no friend of the sun) and ventured forth to enjoy our 7 day long summer.

Monday saw a trip into the city with some friends where we lunched like the classy ladies that we are, by visiting the Hard Rock Cafe. Now I'm no food critic but let me tell you, that there club sandwich was quite simply, excellent. However, us classy ladies weren't willing to spend £10 on ice cream; a short drive and £2 later, we all had ice lollies - dessert problem solved. Also take note of the man walking a tightrope, playing a violin and singing all at the same time - his multitasking levels are through the roof.

Tuesday was by far my favourite day of the week. Drew and I got up at a ridiculously early hour of the day and hopped on a train to Edinburgh for a long awaited trip to the zoo. For those of you that don't know, pandas have been my favourite animal for as long as I remember and Edinburgh zoo happens to be the only place in the UK that you can see such animals - I was excited to say the least. If you take a look up in that top right corner you'll see one sleepy panda; downright adorable, I know. My excitement couldn't be contained, even 3 hours later when we stopped off at Krispy Kreme before we headed on the train home. Doughnuts and pandas all in one day is just a little much for Caitlin to handle.

Wednesday came around and involved a drive with some of my best friends from school for a picnic in the countryside. Naturally, with my ghost like skin, I had managed to get burnt during the 10 minutes that I was driving for - factor 50 and that big old oak tree were my best friends that day. My little polaroid camera also came with us for the first time and was a source of great amusement - definitely my most favourite recent purchase.

By the time Thursday and Friday arrived, I was pretty exhausted to say the least, so lying around in the garden doing absolutely nothing but eat my body weight in ice lollies and fruit was essential. Luckily I had Drew to keep me company. Both days consisted of applying suncream religiously before proceeding to take shelter in the shade - the transparent life is hard, I'm telling you.

But now it's Sunday and the temperatures are already dropping back into the teens; our week of summer is coming to an end. Sad faces all around. But hey, I hope that wherever you are and whatever it is that you are doing, that the weather is lovely and whatever you're up to is even lovelier.

Until next time!
